Eastern Michigan University to host Teacher Job Fair April 7 at Convocation Center

YPSILANTI –  More than 130 school districts will be on the lookout to meet prospective candidates during Eastern Michigan University's annual Teacher Job Fair at the Convocation Center on Friday, April 7, 2017.

The University Advising and Career Development Center is hosting the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center, which is located at 799 N. Hewitt Road in Ypsilanti. Doors open for candidates at 8 a.m. for check-in and registration and the event begins at 9 am. In order to attend, candidates should be eligible to teach by August 2017.

School districts registered to participate include: Ann Arbor, Novi, Wayne-Westland, Dearborn, Battle Creek, Birmingham and Monroe. A few of the first-time attending employers include: Traverse City, Van Buren (Belleville), Propel Schools (Pittsburgh), LEAD Public Schools (Tenn.), Omaha Public Schools (Neb.), and the Catholic School Region of Manhattan. 

“This will be the 31st year EMU has hosted this job fair,” said Barbara J. Jones, Senior Corporate Relations Manager in the EMU University Advising and Career Development Center. “It is well known to recruiters throughout the country who seek highly trained and qualified teachers. My message to teacher candidates is: Come and meet hiring officials who may make a major difference in your future!”

There is no cost to attend the fair. Candidates are encouraged to dress professionally and bring multiple copies of their resume.
