Expertise: Politics, Judicial, Constitutional Law
I have been at EMU for 23 years and have taught on a wide variety of topics. I am the University's mock trial and moot court coach and I am proud to say that I coached the moot court team to a national championship in 2020. I also help lead trips to the South to study the Civil Rights Movement and the issue of race in Mississippi and Alabama. I have published in the area of judicial decision-making on state and national courts with an emphasis on the influence of demographic factors on decision outcome. I am currently finishing a book on the Supreme Court of the United States as a policy-maker. I look at Court decisions across time and show how the Court follows a defined process of policy evolution.
