Expertise: Health Behavior Change, Health Disparities, Innovative Technologies
Dr. Cowdery's primary research experience and interests include the use of innovative health communication and behavior change strategies, including tailoring, smart phone technology, and the use of virtual reality to influence health behaviors and eliminate health disparities. Dr. Cowdery's research additionally includes examining factors that contribute to decisions regarding clinical trial and medical research participation, particularly among minority and underrepresented populations.
Prior to coming to EMU she held a number of positions at HealthMedia, a health technology company whose primary purpose was to design and deliver scientifically based, computer tailored, health communication materials and behavior change programs.
