Welcome to Reading, Pennsylvania, a fractured city in America’s “rust belt” during the recession. As economic insecurity rears its ugly head, relationships between co-workers, friends & family are tested and torn. The local bar, once a place of laughter, drinks and friendship, becomes the scene of mounting tension as the brutal treatment of loyal factory workers gives rise to mistrust and fervent anger. Powerful and topical, this award-winning drama is a true play for the people; a profound piece of storytelling about America’s working class. Directed by Pirooz Aghssa, Sweat will be performed in the Sponberg Theatre on February 8, 9, 14, 15, 15 at 7 p.m. and February 10 & 17 at 2 p.m.

Ticket prices for Sweat are $18 regular admission, $14 for seniors, and $12 for students & MAINSTAGE patrons.
