YPSILANTI – Three Eastern Michigan University alumnae and one former student have been recognized as Notable Women in Finance according to Crain’s Detroit Business magazine.

The four honorees – Angela Barbash, Nicolette Bateson ’12; Mary Templeton ’93 and Donna Zuk ’85 – are among the state’s top executives and innovators in their respective fields. The Crain’s special report showcases women, as nominated by their peers, who lead top finance roles in a variety of corporations and non-profit organizations. According to the article, “Notable Women in Finance navigate restructurings, advise on acquisitions and lead mergers. Their super powers are finding cost savings and new sources of revenue for their companies. They collaborate; they mentor.”

Angela Barbash
Principal, Revalue LLC

Angela Barbash manages a $19 million fund at Revalue, LLC, based in Ypsilanti. The company focuses on local impact investing and holistic financial customer services. According to its website, Revalue strives to provide alternatives to traditional financial services that uncover and strengthen connections between customers, values, wealth and community.  Barbash is considered a visionary in the field of ethical finance and green investing. She attended classes at EMU.

Nicolette Bateson ’12
Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Great Lakes Water Authority

Nicolette Bateson was one of the top executives to navigate the complex process of transforming the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department into the Great Lakes Water Authority. She led the way on refinancing $1.6 billion in bonds, thereby reducing the overall debt by more than $250 million. Bateson manages more than 110 employees and is a strong believer in collaboration and strategic leadership. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University.

Mary Templeton ‘93
President and CEO, Michigan Saves

Mary Templeton oversees a $1-2 million budget and a $10 million trust fund dedicated to stimulating and supporting emerging energy technologies. Under Templeton’s leadership, Michigan Saves has grown considerably. She helped increase the group’s portfolio of residential and commercial loans from $28.9 million to $120 million over four years. Other communities are now modeling their programs after Michigan Saves thanks to Templeton’s guidance and expertise. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from EMU.

Donna Zuk ‘85
Vice President, Financial Operations and Corporate Accounting, Beaumont Health

Donna Zuk has been an important leader in Michigan health care for over 10 years. She oversees a $4.5 billion budget, and helped lead the merger of Beaumont Health System, Oakwood Health Care and Botsford Hospital to create Beaumont Health. Zuk uses her talents as a motivator and a leader to manage her team through complicated financial tasks. Zuk earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University.
