YPSILANTI --  Eastern Michigan’s innovative new 4WARD Graduation Scholarship will be a focus for many families at this Saturday’s (October 6, 2018) Explore Eastern Open House for high school seniors.

The new 4WARD Graduation Scholarship provides two free years of tuition in the student’s junior and senior years. Incoming students must have a 3.0 GPA and a 20 ACT or 1030 SAT score to be eligible and commit to living on campus with a dining contract for the entire four years of their education.

“The 4WARD Graduation Scholarship complements our wide range of existing scholarship options,” said Kevin Kucera, vice president of enrollment management. “The two years of free tuition is a new concept that is generating a lot of attention. Given the concerns among students and parents about the costs of higher education and impact of student loan debt, the 4WARD Graduation Scholarship provides price certainty for the entire four-year experience. Students and parents know up front what their total tuition, room and board costs will be.”

More than 100 #YouAreWelcomeHere banners adorn the Eastern Michigan University campus.

The University’s Presidential Scholarship, providing a full-ride tuition and room and board costs for a four-year degree valued at approximately $90,000, also is a highlight of the scholarship plans to be featured at the open house. The competitive scholarship is open to qualifying students with a minimum 3.5 GPA and 25 ACT or 1200 SAT. Typically, 21 Presidential Scholarships are awarded annually.

Explore Eastern features an academic fair, presentations by the deans from each of Eastern’s five colleges and an optional walking tour of campus. Students will be able to meet one-on-one with professors from various departments, meet other prospective students and get to know the Eastern community.

Explore Eastern begins at EMU’s Student Center and runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
