YPSILANTI – The MBA with international business specialization at Eastern Michigan University has been recognized as one of the nation’s best in terms of its global emphasis by a national website that serves as a resource for potential MBA students around the world.

Onlinembapage.com cited Eastern in its listing of top MBA programs with a global business focus that are online or have a large online component. Eastern was the only Michigan university included in the global business category.

Among the factors considered in the ranking:

Specialized accreditation: For its list of top MBA programs in global business, the site first looked at schools with specialty business accreditation. The degree programs at EMU’s College of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accrediting body of business programs worldwide.

Core business component: The rankings factor in a command of the essentials of communication, of strategic planning, analysis, and decision-making.

Online content: Programs need a well-established, user-friendly content delivery platform.

Connection to the international business community: The rankings give weight to universities that are highly engaged in areas with international trade, such as manufacturing hubs or headquarters of global business, an example being metropolitan Detroit. The website staff also looks for schools that have overseas partner schools. The EMU College of Business has partnerships with universities in China, France, Germany, India and South Korea.

“This honor is a tribute to our faculty for the great program they offer, and it underscores our focus on preparing graduates to perform effectively in the global business community,” said Kenneth Lord, dean of the EMU College of Business. “We continue to promote global interaction and engagement through a strong commitment to international programs and partnerships.”

The website’s page listing Eastern describes the MBA program as follows: “The MBA program at Eastern Michigan emphasizes communication, ethics, and analytical and critical thinking skills. All of those basics are important in any kind of business, but they are even more important in the global business environment.

“EMU understands how international business is woven through even the most mundane markets. (This) specialization in international business will give (students) a boost in all sorts of industries, from automotive to retail to technology.”
