Air Force musicians to perform at Eastern Michigan University

Shades of Blue, USAF jazz band

YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University will host the USAF Band of Mid-America’s Shades of Blue jazz ensemble at Pease Auditorium on Jan 21, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. for a concert. The performance is free, family-friendly and open to the public.

According to a release from the USAF Band of Mid-America Marketing, Shades of Blue is jazz big band comprised of 15 professional musicians whose music inspires patriotism, connects communities with military service members, and honors our country’s veterans.

During a concert, you are just as likely to hear the music of contemporary jazz composers as you would the classic sounds of Count Basie or Maj. Glenn Miller. The band features instrumental and vocal soloists, as well as compositions and arrangements by its own talented members.

Small ensembles or individuals may be available for performances and interviews during local news and public interest programs. Please contact 618.229.2855 or email benjamin.paille@us.af.mil to make arrangements.

For more information on the event, contact Donald J. Babcock at dbabcock@emich.edy or 734.487.6842.
