EMUPD delivers food for Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels

YPSILANTI – Officers from the Eastern Michigan University Police Department (EMUPD) are helping local community organization, Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels, by delivering meals to elderly, ill and disabled residents.

With more than 20 officers that volunteered, the EMUPD has delivered over 250 meals to over 50 homes in eastern Washtenaw County. Officers have been delivering the meals two to three days a week.

"Most officers go into this line of work because they want to help people, and this is just a wonderful opportunity for us to help the community,” said EMUPD Patrol Operations Lieutenant, Diana Young, in a WEMU interview.

Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals, social contact and other services to the homebound elderly, ill and disabled in eastern Washtenaw County, to enable them to enjoy healthier, safer, and more independent lives.
