YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University’s Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) program was recently ranked among the best in the country by U.S. News & World Report. This is the first time the digital media company  has ranked BSN programs. With over 694 BSN programs ranked nationally, EMU’s BSN program ranked No. 138. 

EMU started its BSN program in 1971 and graduated its first group of nurses in 1973. Since then, EMU’s School of Nursing has graduated 5,009 nurses with either their BSN or Master of Science in nursing (MSN) degrees. Many EMU nursing graduates have moved on to leadership positions in health care agencies, as well as schools of nursing. The first cohort of doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) students will graduate in December, 2021.

With the number of nursing programs in the U.S., I am delighted that we were in the top 20% across the nation. Our faculty and staff are committed to the success of our students and I commend them for their great work,” he said.

Since 1973, EMU’s School of Nursing has maintained continuous national accreditation through the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education (CCNE). CCNE is a non-governmental agency that accredits baccalaureate and higher degree nursing programs.

EMU’s School of Nursing provides world-class experiences in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral nursing studies. The school offers BSN, MSN and now DNP degrees with many specialty options available. 

In addition to outstanding clinical experiences, students also experience innovative teaching strategies, like virtual reality and interprofessional team learning to promote high quality health care. EMU School of Nursing is housed with the College of Health & Human Services allowing for multiple opportunities for interprofessional collaboration.
