YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University will host two COVID-19 booster and flu vaccine clinics from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and Wednesday, Feb. 15. Both clinics are located in Eastern’s Student Center in Ballroom A located at 900 Oakwood in Ypsilanti. Advanced registration is not required.

Free COVID-19 boosters will be offered and vaccination cards are required. Eastern students can receive free flu vaccinations thanks to a grant from the Alana’s Foundation and funding from EMU’s Student Government. Eastern employees and community members can receive free flu vaccinations if insured through EMU or another insurance plan covering flu shots. Guests must bring their insurance card, and uninsured guests can receive flu vaccinations for $30.

The clinic will provide COVID-19 boosters and flu vaccinations only. The first and second Moderna or Pfizer vaccination is offered through walk-in visits at the Campus Medical Pharmacy in the Trinity Health Center located on Eastern’s campus.

Facts to consider:

  • The most effective way to protect yourself from both influenza and severe COVID-19 is to get vaccinated with both flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
  • The most common side effects are a sore arm and possibly a low fever or achiness.
  • It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against COVID-19 or influenza virus infection.
