YPSILANTI –  Eagle Crest Golf Club, the home course of the Eastern Michigan University women's and men's golf teams, has been named the 13th-best college golf course in the country. The rankings by Golfpass are compiled from ratings by golfers who've played the respective courses.,

Eagle Crest, an 18-hole layout that features distinctive holes, spectacular Ford Lake, and an extensive practice facility, climbed three places from last year's rankings, and 12 spots from the first time it cracked the top 25 list in 2021.

Golfpass bills itself as the ultimate destination for traveling golfers who love to play, travel and learn more about how the sport of golf can be experienced around the world. The website seeks to be a one-stop, customized experience for golfers of all levels to find honest recommendations from their peers – and to offer feedback of their own – about any golf course they play

The annual list determines its rankings from ratings and reviews submitted by members of its reviewing community throughout the year. College courses must offer public access to be eligible.

Eagle Crest was designed by international golf architect Karl Litten and opened in 1989. It is the home course for the EMU men's and women's golf teams and features 10 different sets of tees for various skill levels and ages.

The course has undergone considerable improvement since the implementation of a master plan in 2012 that laid out the goal of becoming one of the premier resort golf courses in Michigan, said Wes Blevins, director of golf at Eagle Crest.

“We have worked very hard on making the golf course better and better each year,” said Blevins. “For Eagle Crest Golf Club to be ranked No. 13 in the country for public college golf courses is a great accomplishment. We will continue to improve the total golf experience for our members, hotel guests, and our daily fee players. I am excited about the clubhouse renovation of expanding the Bar & Grille kitchen and offering four Trackman simulators. We are looking forward to a great 2023 season!”

This is the most recent recognition for Eagle Crest. Last year, Eagle Crest was ranked No. 5 in a list of the top 10 courses in metro Detroit by the Detroit Free Press
