Eastern Michigan University awards 16 students and 16 faculty members with funds to support research leading to Undergraduate Symposium participation

YPSILANTI -- Eastern Michigan University has honored 16 undergraduate students and 16 faculty members with Symposium Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) Awards. The awards are designed to support undergraduate student research to participate in the annual EMU Undergraduate Symposium.

The SURF is intended to encourage partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty to facilitate student participation in the annual Undergraduate Symposium.

Selected student fellows are matched with faculty mentors in the student's chosen field of study. Students are provided with a $1,000 stipend; faculty are provided up to $1,000 to support the project. SURF positions are awarded for one year with the possibility of renewal.
