YPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University International Aviation Fraternity, Alpha Eta Rho, traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend a three-day annual conference from April 18-21, 2024. Students who participated in the conference engaged with national board members, connected with esteemed recruiters at the career fair, acquired internships, and established connections with others who share a similar passion for the aviation industry.

According to the Alpha Eto Rho website, Alpha Eta Rho is a professional, collegiate fraternity founded to bring together students with a common interest in commercial aviation. Since 1929, the organization has fostered a bond among fellow aviators and aviation enthusiasts and has upheld their longstanding motto of "Collegiate Aviation Leaders of Today... Aviation Industry Leaders of Tomorrow."

During the conference, students engaged in various enriching activities, including leadership workshops, networking sessions, and professional development seminars. They had the privilege of listening to Pete Muntean, CNN aviation and transportation correspondent, seasoned pilot, and flight instructor, who delivered an inspiring keynote address.

Ibrahim Aldhaibani, a senior studying Aviation Flight Technology, serves as treasurer for the EMU chapter. Aldhaibani shared how the conference offered valuable insights into the diverse nature of the aviation industry.

“Attending the national conference expanded my understanding of the various career opportunities available while also offering exceptional networking opportunities with pilots and recruiters from companies and organizations such as the National Business Aviation Association, Endeavor Air, Republic Airways, the US Air Force, Piedmont, and many others,” said Aldhaibani.

“This conference allowed me to connect with students from other institutions and proudly represent Eastern Michigan University.”
