YPSILANTI —Eastern Michigan University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has once again been recognized as one of the best in the nation, jumping 79 spots in the 2025 rankings by U.S. News and World Reports. This recognition highlights EMU’s commitment to providing high-quality nursing education and places the program among the top nursing schools nationwide.

“We are incredibly proud of the recognition our program continues to receive,” said Jennifer Kellman Fritz, dean of the College of Health and Human Services. “Our ranking speaks to our faculty's dedication, our students' excellence, and our curriculum's strength. The fact that we are recognized among the top programs in the nation is a testament to the quality of education we provide.”

The rankings, determined by a peer assessment survey of nursing school officials and academics, reflect the reputation of programs based on a 1-5 scale. To be considered, programs must be accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and they must have awarded at least 50 BSN degrees in recent years. EMU placed No. 149 out of 685 accredited nursing schools across the United States.

Since its inception in 1971, EMU’s nursing program has had more than 5,000 students graduate with BSN and Master of Science in nursing degrees. EMU graduates can be found in leadership positions across the healthcare industry, shaping the future of nursing and healthcare management.

Eastern’s School of Nursing has maintained continuous accreditation by CCNE since 1973, ensuring the program meets the highest standards of nursing education and clinical training. EMU’s nursing graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers and make a positive impact in healthcare settings locally and globally.
