YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University’s home golf course, Eagle Crest Golf Club, has been ranked the ninth-best college golf course in the country, according to GolfPass. This recognition is based on golfer ratings provided to courses and is compiled into an annual list of the top 20 College Golf Courses. To qualify for this ranking, courses must be publicly accessible and have received at least 10 reviews.
“This marks the second consecutive year that Eagle Crest Golf Club has been ranked among the top ten public university golf courses,” said Wes Blevins, Eagle Crest’s general manager and director of golf. “This is a great accomplishment for Eastern as we continue to put efforts into making the golf course better every year and deliver a wonderful golf experience to all our students and guests.”
Eagle Crest, designed by international golf architect Karl Litten, opened in 1989. It is the home course for EMU’s men's and women's golf teams and offers an 18-hole layout with features for various golf skill levels and ages. The GolfPass ranking highlights the recent improvements to hole 16, where removing dead trees enhanced the scenic views of Ford Lake.
“Eagle Crest, as our university-owned golf course, is very instrumental in recruiting the world's best student-athletes and being able to practice daily on a championship golf course helps us to be prepared when we compete,” said Andy Walker, head men’s golf coach. “Eagle Crest is always in great shape, and with the panoramic views of Ford Lake, we are proud and fortunate to call it home."
GolfPass, owned by champion golfer Rory Mcllroy and NBC Sports Group, is a membership program that offers discounted tee times, online lessons, video streaming, travel credits, and more.
