Eastern Michigan University recognized by United Way of Washtenaw County as a 2023 Creative Campaign Awardee

YPSILANTI --  In recognition of its support to the local community, Eastern Michigan University has been awarded a 2023 Creative Campaign Awardee by the United Way Washtenaw County. The award reflects Eastern Michigan’s deep and long-standing commitment supporting community initiatives focused on education, health, and financial stability for citizens of Washtenaw County.

EMU and United Way logos“United Way of Washtenaw County provides vital resources for so many organizations that support the well-being of our community’” said James Smith, president of Eastern Michigan University. “I am grateful for the many ways our students, faculty and staff engage with the greater community. Our high level of active civic engagement is a core tenant of the University’s strategic plan and has been recognized nationally by the Carnegie Foundation. Our support of the United Way of Washtenaw County is another example of that commitment.”

In announcing Eastern’s award, the United Way of Washtenaw County stated: “Eastern Michigan University is a bedrock partner of United Way of Washtenaw County. We were excited that your United Way Campaign team brought back the annual Campaign Luncheon, which had paused during the pandemic. Our staff appreciated the opportunity to listen to the inspiring stories shared by you and your team. Additionally, we noticed a palpable buzz around the EMU Advocates as they left the Luncheon.

“Through these efforts, you helped us engage groups of new and long-standing donors and Advocates at EMU. With your leadership, United Way’s vision is possible: a community where opportunity is not limited and where every member reaches their full potential.”
