EMU Today TV launches seventh season with an introduction to Eastern Michigan University’s new Chief Diversity Officer, Dwight Hamilton

YPSILANTI —  The latest episode of EMU Today TV features an introduction to Dwight Hamilton, Eastern Michigan University’s new chief diversity officer. During the episode, Hamilton discusses why he considers his new role at Eastern a homecoming, and how he views the position of chief diversity officer in supporting students and employees. 

Hamilton joined Eastern in September after a diverse career in higher education diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work and the legal profession. A Michigan native, he earned an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from Wayne State University. After practicing law in western Michigan, he worked in a variety of DEI and Title IX roles at Grand Valley State University, Smith College, and Northwestern University. Most recently, he led DEI efforts for a corporate firm that supports several private universities.

As Eastern Michigan University’s Chief Diversity Officer, Hamilton oversees the Office of Sexual Misconduct Prevention & Response (which includes the Title IX Coordinator), Office of DEI Programs, the MAGIC program, and the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Scholars program. He also serves on the President’s Executive Council. 

Now in its seventh season, EMU Today TV, produced by the University’s Division of Communications, highlights positive programs, events and initiatives at Eastern.

Mark S. Lee is the host of EMU Today TV. Lee is an Eastern Michigan University alumnus and part-time lecturer of marketing at Eastern. He is the host of the podcast, "In the Conference Room", and is featured in a weekly business segment, "Strictly Business", on CBS News Detroit. Lee also is a frequent contributor to various Detroit-area media outlets on business topics.
