YPSILANTI —  Eastern Michigan University hosted TRUEMU Night at the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday (Jan. 27, 2024), and guests were treated to a 5-2 Red Wings win over last year’s Stanley Cup Champions, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The EMU ticket package included a limited edition co-branded green and white Eastern Michigan University/Detroit Red Wings jersey, with $5 from every ticket purchased through the package going to the EMU Student Emergency Fund. In all, 324 EMU tickets were sold to University alumni, employees, students and friends before the Red Wings halted sales a week prior to the game due to the sell-out of all remaining tickets for the Saturday night game.

“It was a great night to be an Eagle and a Red Wings fan,” said Walter Kraft, Eastern’s vice president for communications. “The win, the frequent ‘Go Lions’ chants in addition to cheers for the Red Wings, and the one-of-a-kind jersey made the night very special for our guests. The contribution to support the success of our students added to the enjoyment. We thank the Detroit Red Wings organization for its support of this fun night.”
