Dr. Bumpus is the Special Associate to the Provost and the former Director of the at Eastern Michigan University Telehealth Clinic. She is a Professor of Nursing at Eastern Michigan University, School of Nursing, and has previously been an Associate Professor at Michigan State University and a course coordinator in the Adult Nurse Practitioner clinical courses at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Dr. Bumpus completed her PhD at the University of Michigan.
As an RN, Dr. Bumpus had clinical responsibilities in general medicine, nephrology, and cardiology. As a Nurse Practitioner, she has experience in emergency care, women’s health, college health, and spent 12 years in a rural internal medicine practice managing acute and chronic disease from childhood through geriatrics. In this clinic she helped support her patients through the development of an indigent drug program. Until COVID-19, she volunteered at Hope Clinic for the medically underserved, promoting wellness and .
Dr. Bumpus also teaches continuing education programs for practicing nurses, notably the Physical Assessment for Occupational Health Nurses and Common Problems in Occupational Health Nursing, both presented by the University of Michigan. Her research interests include cardiac medicine, hospital readmissions, fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD), registry and outcomes research, Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Education, and COVID-19 Campus Management.
