Eastern Michigan University’s “Enlighten U” podcast kicks off the new year with a focus on loneliness and Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Renowned author, activist, and historian Mary Frances Berry to keynote Eastern Michigan University’s 39th Annual MLK President’s Luncheon on Monday, Jan. 20.
The day starts with an MLK Walk to Freedom from 10 to 11 a.m., starting at the MLK Statue, followed by the President’s Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where Channel 7 Editorial Director Chuck Stokes will moderate a conversation with Berry. A book signing featuring Berry concludes event.
In 1891, every student paid an entrance fee of $10 per year. The State of Michigan furnished the textbooks free of charge.
Edward Bowles (Class of 1942) and Laurence Randolph shared the top prize in the 1939 Men’s Union-sponsored song contest for “Our Pledge,” which remains the Alma Mater.
The Detroit Lions held their training camp at Briggs Field from 1949 to 1956.
