Arnold Fleischmann joined the Political Science Department at Eastern Michigan University as professor and department head in 2009, following more than 20 years at the University of Georgia. He received his B.A. in economics from the University of St. Thomas (MN) and his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Texas. Fleischmann's research has focused on urban politics, including economic development policies, zoning, annexation, and local elections. He is coauthor of Politics in Georgia (University of Georgia Press). He has also published articles on the gay rights movement in Atlanta and statewide elections on same-sex marriage.
