Ping Zhou joined the Department of Geography and Geology as a lecturer in 2010. His studies and research focuses on the societal and economic implications of China's rapid industrialization. He has given several presentations at EMU on the topic, including a "New York Times Talk" highlighting the country's unsustainable growth. As an independent trader on the NYSE, Ping is also well informed on global economic systems and events. From 2012-2015, Ping worked as a contributing writer for the New York Times' About.com, publishing articles primarily focused on economic geography, population, and migration. He is the recipient of several teaching awards at Eastern Michigan University, including Supplemental Instructor of the Year and Celebration of Student Success.
