Dr. John Wegner, a native of Toledo, Ohio, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from The University of Toledo. He also received the degree of Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Bowling Green State University. Following a brief career in broadcast journalism and public relations, he returned to graduate school in the Department of History at Bowling Green State University, receiving the Ph.D. in 1992.

Employed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at Eastern Michigan University, Dr. Wegner also received a Master of Science degree in Geography and Planning from that institution, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Historic Preservation.

Dr. Wegner is the author of several articles dealing with various aspects of history and historical geography, as well as communication. One of these, "Remembering the 'Rag Baby": Toledo and the Greenback-National Movement" was nominated for an award of merit.

Dr. Wegner has diverse interests, including the evolution of historic landscapes and gardens and culinary history. He is well versed in the history of both Ohio and Michigan, and aspects of the conflicts which have arisen between the two states.
