YPSILANTI — If you’re interested in authentic Japanese arts and culture, you’re going to love the internationally known Kikuno-Kai dance troupe.
The dance troupe, which specializes in Japanese classic and folk dances, will be making a visit to Eastern Michigan University on Monday, Nov. 6. The dance troupe will perform “Awaodori” by Kikunokai, Tokyo, from 5:30-7 p.m. in EMU’s Student Center Ballroom A.
The event is free to attend and part of the DIA’s “Japan Cultural Days.” The Japanese Section of EMU, the Japanese Cultural Development of Japan Business Society of Detroit (JBSD) and the JBSD Foundation are event sponsors.
In addition, the dance troupe will perform Nov. 4-5 for free at the DIA to celebrate the opening of the DIA’s new Japan Gallery. Sponsored by the DIA and JBSD, included during the two-day celebration of Japanese arts and culture are workshops, demonstrations, performances, lectures, films and more.
