YPSILANTI — As part of National Chemistry Week celebrations, the Chemistry Department will host the American Chemical Society’s VOYAGE TO MARS: RED PLANET CHEMISTRY event, which theorizes the chemistry of Mars. This is the second American Chemical Society Program in a Box event that has been proctored at Eastern, following last spring’s popular Opioids event.
This event is LBC3 approved and takes place on Tuesday, October 23, starting at 6:45 p.m. in the Halle Auditorium G03. Refreshments will be served.
The webinar will include a panel of research scientists, Hubble fellows and professors who will address the following topics:
“We welcome everyone from on and off campus to the event,” said Sai Priya Marrapu, a graduate assistant for the Creative Scientific Inquiry Experience (CSIE) program at EMU, which is helping to host the program “The event addresses the general things about the Earth and Mars, so the audience could be of any major — not just chemistry or other science majors. The audience can learn the geological history of Mars, about challenges of long-term space travel, and the current state of recycling waste.”
