GEN.G Foundation opens application process for Eastern Michigan University students

EMU, Gen.G Unveil its Great Lakes Invitational for Michigan Colleges to Compete in League of Legends Tournament

GEN.G logoYPSILANTI — The Gen.G Foundation officially opened its application process today for Eastern Michigan University (EMU) students to apply to be a part of the inaugural Gen 10 class - a group of 10 students from all over the country that will receive a $10K scholarship that will be awarded in December.  Global esports organization Gen.G recently announced with its Foundation Partners - Eastern Michigan University, University of Kentucky, Silicon Valley Bank and Bumble - a $1M commitment to developing the next generation of leaders. Gen.G will award a scholarship to a EMU student.

Students can apply at https://geng.gg/pages/foundation with applications closing Oct. 15. The fund will be used to support diverse students enrolled in a US university or college who are interested in majoring in gaming, esports, entrepreneurship, journalism or content creation. 
EMU and Gen.G also unveiled that the Great Lakes Invitational will take place on Sept. 26. Teams from EMU, Aquinas College, Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University will compete online in a League of Legends tournament for a $1,500 prize pool, with the champion receiving $1,000. Fans can watch the event on Twitch.tv/emu_esports.
In May 2020, EMU and Gen.G launched a strategic rollout of esports and gaming programming focused around student retention and recruitment, including the EMU Summer Smash Tournament weekly series with over 100 high schools from 28 states, and held multiple sessions of the “Gamer Girls Getting it Done” Summer camp series, hosted by a mix of pro gamers, casters, content creators, and esports business staff.
