YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University programs in the College of Education are ranked among the top 150 online graduate programs in the country in an annual list compiled by U.S. News and World Report.

Online graduate programs in the College of Education were ranked 144th this year, in the top four among the Michigan public university online education programs listed in the rankings, which included hundreds of institutions nationwide.

Mike Sayler, dean of the College of Education, said that enrollment in online programs such as K-12 leadership have shown strong enrollment growth over the last five years. In addition, programs in teacher education and special education have recently gone totally online and are also seeing significant growth.

“At Eastern, we continue to focus on the development and implementation of high-quality programs,” Sayler said. “Our students get exceptional preparation in terms of leadership, in curriculum and instruction, and in initial and advanced special education needs, along with the convenience of the online environment. This gives students the flexibility their busy, professional schedules so often demand.”

The EMU College of Education has online master’s programs in Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education and the Social Foundations of Education.

Universities’ online programs were ranked on a variety of factors, including student engagement, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, peer reputation and faculty credentials and training.
