Eastern Michigan University Bachelor of Information Assurance and Cyber Defense ranked top 10 best Online Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity

Program known for high job placement rate, flexibility and STEM-based curriculum

YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University Bachelor of Information Assurance and Cyber Defense has been ranked top 10 in the nation as the best online bachelor’s in Cybersecurity by AcademicInfluence.com. The program ranked seventh on the list, making it the only university in Michigan to rank in the top 10. The recognition can be found in the 2022 rankings list.

EMU’s Cybersecurity program connects with enhanced job market potential at some of the biggest companies in cybersecurity. With nearly 100% job placement, EMU graduates have received jobs at Snapchat, Google, Amazon, the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Security Agency. The program has flexible online and on-campus courses to meet the needs of career-oriented students and professionals.

“We are very proud of the ranking,” said Sean Che, associate professor of the School of Information Security and Applied Computing at the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “Our program is one of the earliest cyber security programs in the nation, and we are one of the very few dedicated schools for cybersecurity education and research.” 

The program boasts the proper education and training to teach students how to defend against cyber attacks and protect data. The program is a nationally ranked STEM-based program, preparing students with the knowledge and skillset to build, maintain and protect networks and computer systems.

“We are among the Centers of Academic Excellence in the US designated by the National Security Agency for Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Education,” said Che. “We are also accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology ”.  

AcademicInfluence.com ranks colleges and academics using innovative machine learning to identify academic impact. The scale ranks schools based on the faculty and alumni who are influential over 24 academic disciplines. 

“At the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology, we are preparing students with the set of skills that will help them succeed in their lives and propel their careers upon graduation,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “Our Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Program is an excellent example of that,” he added.
