The Washtenaw County/Eastern Michigan University Legal Resource Center celebrated its 20th Anniversary on Sept. 13 by hosting a community open house at the Washtenaw County Courthouse in downtown Ann Arbor. The event promoted awareness of the Legal Resource Center’s services to the community, and local judges and courthouse personnel attended and spoke with EMU students, LRC staff, and EMU Paralegal Program alumni.
Established in 2004, the LRC is a nationally recognized, collaborative effort between Washtenaw County and Eastern Michigan University dedicated to providing community members with access to justice.
The LRC assists approximately 200 patrons per month in family and probate law, landlord-tenant disputes, and small claims matters. Approximately 50 percent of the LRC’s patrons reside in the Ypsilanti area.
For more information, see the Legal Resource Center website or call 734.994.0160. If you are interested in donating to help support the center’s activities, see the private donation link on the EMU Foundation website.
