Get Your Flu and COVID-19 Vaccines at EMU's On-Campus Clinics

With flu season approaching and respiratory illnesses on the rise, protecting your health has never been more important. Whether you’re traveling during the holidays or spending time in crowded settings, your risk of exposure to illnesses like the flu and COVID-19 increases. That’s why Eastern Michigan University is offering two vaccination clinics to help keep you safe.

Upcoming Vaccination Clinics
Mark your calendars for these two convenient walk-in clinics, held in Ballroom A of the Student Center:

• Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Monday, November 4, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

No appointments are necessary—just bring your insurance card if you have one.

Who Can Get Vaccinated?
Both flu shots and COVID-19 vaccinations will be available at the clinic. Here’s a breakdown of eligibility and cost:

Students:
• FREE for students enrolled in the EMU student insurance plan through United Health Care Student Resources (bring your insurance card).
• FREE for students on other insurance plans that cover flu shots and COVID-19 vaccinations (bring your insurance card).
• FREE flu shots for uninsured students, thanks to funding from EMU Student Government (COVID vaccinations are not covered for uninsured students).

Employees:
• FREE for employees with EMU or other insurance plans that cover flu shots and COVID-19 vaccinations (bring your insurance card).

What to Expect
Getting vaccinated is quick and easy. You may choose to get both your flu shot and COVID-19 vaccination at the same time. Common side effects include a sore arm, mild fever, or achiness. It typically takes two weeks for your body to build the antibodies needed to protect you from the flu or COVID-19.

Why Vaccination Matters
According to the CDC and WHO, vaccination is the most effective way to prevent serious complications from both COVID-19 and the flu. Don’t wait until it’s too late—take action to protect yourself and your community.
