EMU Today

October brings cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, Homecoming, and a full slate of activities and ways to get involved. Here are a few of the many events happening at EMU this October. 

Saturday, Oct. 3-6: “Alice by Heart” by EMU Theatre
EMU Theatre presents “Alice by Heart.” Thursday through Saturday showings start at 7 p.m., and Sunday’s showing begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for students and $20 for general admission. The production takes place at Legacy Theatre in the Judy Sturgis Hill Building.

Saturday, Oct. 12: The Temptations Halftime Show Performance
The “Pride of the Peninsula,” the EMU Marching Band, is excited to collaborate with legendary Motown vocal group The Temptations for the halftime show of the EMU vs. Miami University football game. EMU alum Jawan M. Jackson joined the Temptations in 2022. Limited “Meet and Greet/Photo Op with The Temptations” tickets are available for purchase.

Wednesday, Oct. 16: Homecoming Kickoff Picnic
The event takes place outside the Student Center and is free. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is in conjunction with the “Shirt Swap & Build an Eagle” event. Attendees can swap out a shirt from another school for a brand-new EMU Homecoming shirt and then stuff their own EMU eagle.

Thursday, Oct. 17: The State of Democracy
The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Sill Hall, Room 124. The 2024 election cycle is marked by polarization, misinformation, and political rhetoric. Join us for an engaging discussion of the issues with Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and Republican State Representative Andrew Beeler. Moderated by EMU professor Jeff Bernstein. 

Saturday, Oct. 19: Homecoming Football Game
EMU’s homecoming game against Central Michigan University will kick off at 2 p.m. The Alumni & Friends Tailgate begins at 10:30 a.m. on the front lawn at Rynearson Stadium. Tickets are on sale now.
