Gender in the Election

On Monday, October 28, the departments of Women’s & Gender Studies (WGST) and Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminology are co-sponsoring a panel entitled, “Gender in the Election.” Speakers include U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI), EMU Provost Rhonda Longworth, Criminology and WGST Professor Marilyn Corsianos, Sociology and WGST Professor Solange Simões, and students Rena Corsianos and Trinity Perkins. This panel will highlight the gendered issues that figure prominently in national, statewide, and local elections, whether it is reproductive rights, paid family leave, gendered violence, LGBTQ+ rights, and women’s political representation and the gendered voting gap. This event will be held in Strong Hall 100 from 3-4:30 p.m. This panel is free, LBC approved, and is open to the public.
