EMU to host Plymouth-Canton High School students for Manufacturing Day

EMU TO HOST PLYMOUTH-CANTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR MANUFACTURING DAY

 

WHO:               
Eastern Michigan University and its College of Engineering and Technology will host hundreds of high school students from the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools on October 4 in honor of the nationally recognized Manufacturing Day.

WHAT:             
The events of Manufacturing Day seek to address common misconceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t.

The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at EMU will serve as an education hub for the students, who will come to Eastern by bus for lunch, a presentation from Dr. Mohamed Qatu, Dean of CET, and Thomas Paden, Canton Chamber of Commerce President.

Following the presentations, the students will receive a tour of EMU’s Sill Hall, which is currently under construction to be the new home of the EMU College of Engineering and Technology.

11:30 a.m.: Presentations with Dr. Mohamed Qatu and Thomas Paden

Immediately following, the students will tour Sill Hall on Eastern Michigan University’s campus, learning about the courses and programs that CET offers.
