EMU TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION SIMULATION DAY
WHO:
The Eastern Michigan University College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) will host its third annual Interprofessional Education Simulation Day on Friday, November 15.
WHAT:
The IPE Simulation Day is a simulation exercise that allows students from each of the different majors of EMU’s CHHS to work with one another while treating a standardized patient in a realistic, safe situation. Participants are divided into teams comprised of students from the different disciplines to plan and treat a patient who is admitted to the hospital following an injury.
The event will take place in half day sessions at the Rackham building on EMU’s campus and the EMU & St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Simulation center on the hospital’s campus.
The students will learn skills crucial to effective and integrated patient care, skills that ensure the team remain on the same page, including the call out (repeating instructions for clarity), briefing (preplanning outside before talking to the patient) and huddling (to discuss how to respond to new or unexpected circumstances).
Photo and interview opportunities will be available for attending media at the St. Joseph Mercy sessions.

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Simulation Center
5305 Elliott Drive
Ypsilanti, MI 48197
