YPSILANTI – The 10th anniversary of “Gamers for Giving” proved to be the largest yet. The annual event, held at Eastern Michigan University’s Convocation Center on April 28-29, raised $772,598 this year.
The event featured gamers from around the world who participated in a tournament to raise funds and awareness to support the purchase and delivery of gaming equipment, technology and software to help children cope with treatment inside hospitals.
Zach Wigal, a 2016 graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in marketing, founded the event and the non-profit organization Gamers Outreach in 2008. Last year, Wigal was named by Forbes Magazine in its "30 Under 30" list in the “Games” category.
Wigal also has been featured as the cover story of Eastern magazine.
A complete wrap-up of this year’s event can be found on the Gamers For Giving website.
