Eastern Michigan University to host more than 80 employers from across the state for 2018 fall career fair

"Life-changing" event for students takes place Nov. 7; includes interview skills practice, resume preparation

YPSILANTI – Hiring managers from around the state of Michigan are set to attend a fall career fair at Eastern Michigan University on Wednesday, Nov. 7 in the Student Center Ballroom.

At the fair, students can fill out applications for jobs and internship opportunities in the fields of business, technology, arts and science, health and human services.

The event will be held in the Student Center Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is open for free to two- or four-year students, as well as graduates and alumni who are looking for a job, an internship or a networking opportunity. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring their resume, business cards, pen, and paper.

"This event will potentially be a life-changing day for our students," said John C. Carlson event planner and coordinator. "Employers have hundreds of jobs and internships and are excited to meet our students and alumni."

EMU University Advising and Career Center advisors are available to help students craft a well-written resume, prepare for interviews and practice on how to approach job recruiters. To ask for the University Advising and Career Center services, please visit their website, or stop by their office at 200 McKenny Hall.

All students attending the event will be directed to go through the ready room, which will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In the ready room, students can take their LinkedIn headshot picture for free, have their wardrobe checked, practice a mini-interview with a recruiter and learn how to leave a good first impression.

To navigate easily between the companies in the room, students are recommended to download “The Fairs App” for a location map and immediate information about each representor.

To register for the event and look at the list of employers attending, please visit the Handshake webpage.
