Ypsilanti - Eastern Michigan University students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to celebrate the first TRUEMU Night of the year on March 10 as the Detroit Red Wings take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time is 7:30 p.m. TRUEMU Nights are a great way for fans to show their support and appreciation of Detroit, the Red Wings, and EMU.

The special ticket package for EMU includes:
  • A ticket to Red Wings vs. Carolina Hurricanes
  • A one-of-a-kind co-branded Red Wings/EMU hat.
  • A donation to the EMU Foundation Gem Scholarship Fund.
"TRUEMU nights are a great way for Eastern Michigan students, faculty, staff and alumni to get together for a family-friendly and fun night of school camaraderie and pride," said Walter Kraft, vice president for communications. "Fans will get to experience Little Caesars Arena, meet and have their photo taken with Swoop, and join Eastern Michigan University President Jim Smith in a large group photo between the first and second periods. Most exciting for many is the limited supply of a unique co-branded Red Wings/Eastern Michigan baseball hat that all attendees who purchase tickets through the EMU package will receive at no additional cost. All this, plus every ticket includes a $5 donation to student scholarships. It's a great night for a really great cause!"

Proceeds from TRUEMU Night support the GEM Scholarship Fund, an endowed fund that directly impacts students from all areas of the university and increases financial aid ability.  Receiving the scholarship can be life-changing for students struggling with unforeseen circumstances. A recent recipient, Marquesha Brown, was able to pursue her dream career in social work after receiving funds to help her with her remaining tuition costs.  Learn more about how receiving the GEM Scholarship Fund helps our students.
