YPSILANTI – On Monday, March 16, Eastern Michigan University will invite teachers/aspiring teachers of all levels and subject matters to EMU’s campus for a free teacher career fair. The fair will be hosted from 8 a.m. to noon in the Student Center Ballroom, located at 900 Oakwood St. in Ypsilanti.
Check in and registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the fair following at 9 a.m.
Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of a resume, and be prepared to interview if asked. Interviews between school and potential candidates will take place from 1-4 p.m.
“At EMU, we want to help make as many education job connections as possible,” said Michael Sayler, EMU’s Dean of the College of Education. “It used to be really tough to find teaching jobs in Michigan because there just weren’t that many available. But that landscape has shifted as of late, and we are honored to be able to host this annual fair to help make connections between teachers and schools, both locally and out-of-state.”
The fair is open to those who have completed their student teaching assignment, those who are starting their student teaching assignments, and certified teachers looking for new opportunities. In addition to positions in early childhood, elementary and middle and high school, the fair will also have job openings for administrators, guidance and career counselors, health and PE, social workers and speech pathologists.
There will be more than 81 schools attending, including 63 from Michigan, as well as schools form Arkansas, Arizona, Washington D.C., Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas.
