Eastern Michigan University online master’s program in educational leadership – K-12 administration ranked among the best the country

Educational leadershipYPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University master’s program in educational leadership in K-12 administration has been ranked one of the country’s best programs of its type in an annual guide to top online schools.

Eastern is featured on the 2020 Best Online Colleges for Value ranking, which are based a combination of manually researched tuition, accreditation, and PayScale salary data.

Eastern is ranked no. 6 nationally and is the only Michigan university listed in the annual rankings.

"We are proud in the high rating of our online masters in educational leadership – K12 administration,” said Micheal Sayler, dean of the College of Education. “Eastern has a long history of producing exceptional educational leaders and doing so in high-quality on-line programs.”

Graduates of the educational leadership program continue to work as professional educators in leadership and administrative positions in K-12 education. Administrators in education are generally responsible for setting goals, evaluating performance and supervising the staff of both public and private schools.

Educational administrators typically focus their knowledge and training in one age group or specialty, targeting postsecondary education or special needs, for example. Master's degree-holders with the appropriate certification can become school principals, assistant principals, lead teachers and superintendents, among other opportunities.

"Students participating in our master's in educational leadership program join the large contingent of state and national educational leaders trained at EMU,” Sayler said. “They have built a strong network with fellow graduates and faculty that can prove essential to becoming a successful school administrator."
