YPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University Engage@EMU office will host a virtual childcare and early childhood education event, the “CDC Mini Unconference,” on Friday, March 5 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. The event will be hosted via ZOOM.
The event will feature two speakers from Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s office, Brandy Johnson, policy advisor on education and workforce; and Michelle Richard, policy advisor on early childhood issues.
The speakers will discuss details of the EMU Child Development Certificate program, as well as lead various discussions around childcare and early childhood education. Topics will include the talent pipeline, options and opportunities in the industry, academic pathways, financial ways and means, and pivoting (COVID-19 and beyond).
The event will be moderated by Alena Zachary-Ross, superintendent for Ypsilanti Community Schools, and Beth Marshall, program coordinator & faculty for Washtenaw Community College’s Early Childhood Education Program.
