Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approves new faculty contract 

YPSILANTI – In a special meeting today, Oct. 3, 2022, the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved a new contract for the EMU chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). 

“This is a good day for Eastern Michigan University students and our campus community,” said Eastern Michigan President James Smith. “While it took a great deal of dialogue and patience, we are pleased with the terms of the agreement. “Credit goes to the bargaining teams from AAUP and the administration who were determined to find solutions to highly complex issues.” 

The four-year agreement covers approximately 506 full-time faculty. Highlights from the contract include:

Salary:

  • Year one: 4% or $4,000 to base salary, whichever is greater (current average salary is $90K)
  • Year two and Year three: 3.25% to base salary
  • Year four: wage reopener
