Students, faculty and staff:
Due to deteriorating weather conditions and heavy snowfall this afternoon and evening, and resulting travel difficulties, the University has modified the afternoon/evening schedule for Wednesday, Jan. 25, as follows:
Fully online courses without scheduled meeting times (i.e., asynchronous classes) may proceed with activities unless directed otherwise by the instructor.
All other evening activities beginning after 3 p.m. are canceled, including in-person class sessions, fully online class sessions with a scheduled meeting time (i.e., synchronous classes), meetings, library operations, and other activities.
Students who have off-campus placements in teaching, clinical, or similar settings should follow the instructions of their placement coordinator or onsite instructor.
We encourage employees who are working on campus to, if feasible and in consultation with their supervisor, leave campus at 3 p.m.
Due to the 24/7 nature of some campus operations, designated personnel who work in certain areas such as the energy center, physical plant, food service, public safety, WEMU and other employees within specific areas of the University may be required to work. All other employees should remain at home this evening in accordance with the Eastern Michigan University Extreme Weather Policy and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Residence halls and apartments will remain open. Residential campus dining units (The Commons, The Eateries, and CrossRoads) will be open - visit EMU Dining for hours and locations. Other on-campus food service locations will be closed. The Student Center will close at 6 p.m. The Rec/IM will close at 3 p.m.
During the period of closure, students, faculty and staff should monitor their emich.edu email and the University website for further updates. If you have not signed up for the RAVE emergency text alert system, please do so at www.emich.edu/alerts/.
