Eastern Michigan University to close Thursday, Feb. 23, due to impact of winter storm

YPSILANTI --  Eastern Michigan University will close Thursday, Feb. 23, due to the icy conditions, falling trees/branches, downed power lines and overall poor travel conditions overnight into the morning.

Fully online courses without scheduled meeting times (i.e., asynchronous classes) may proceed with activities unless directed otherwise by the instructor.

All other are canceled, including in-person class sessions, fully online class sessions with a scheduled meeting time (i.e., synchronous classes), meetings (in-person and remote), library operations, and other activities. (Online synchronous classes are canceled as some students, faculty and staff rely on on university-provided hardware, software and support and this cannot be assured when the University is closed.)

Students who have off-campus placements in teaching, clinical, or similar settings should follow the instructions of their placement coordinator or onsite instructor.

Due to the 24/7 nature of some campus operations, designated personnel who work in certain areas such as the energy center, physical plant, food service, public safety, WEMU and other employees within specific areas of the University may be required to work. All other employees should remain at home in accordance with the Eastern Michigan University Extreme Weather Policy and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Residence halls and apartments will remain open. Residential campus dining units will be open - visit EMUDining for hours and locations. Other on-campus food service locations will be closed.
