Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approves agreement with collective bargaining unit

YPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved the collective bargaining agreement between Eastern Michigan University and the EMU International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America Local 1976 (EMU UAW 1976) representing the regular full-time and part-time non-academic and/or non-faculty professional technical and administrative employee, during a board meeting on Dec. 5, 2024.

The recommendation is based on the tentative agreement reached between Eastern and the EMU UAW Local 1976 and ratified by the UAW 1976 bargaining unit on Dec. 2. Significant provisions of the proposed agreement include: 

Duration: Three-year agreement, retroactive to July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027.

Wages: Across-the-board salary increase as follows: 

  • Year one: 3.25% increase retroactive to July 1, 2024 
  • Year two: 3.0% increase 
  • Year three: 2.75% increase 

"The negotiating teams did a fantastic job and should be credited for their hard work during the process," said Kathy Stacey, associate vice president and chief human resources officer at Eastern.
