YPSILANTI -- Eastern Michigan University will close tonight (classes beginning after 5 p.m.), and the full day tomorrow, Feb. 13, due to the expected severe weather conditions. The closure includes cancellation of tomorrow's meeting of the University's Board of Regents.
Weather Closure Guidelines
Unless exempted by the guidelines outlined below, a weather closure applies as follows:
(1) course activities (including class sessions, exams, assignment submissions, etc.) are canceled unless the classes were already scheduled as 100% online and 100% asynchronous;
(2) all employee meetings (even if they were scheduled to occur on Zoom) are canceled; and,
(3) all employees should refrain from conducting regular, compensable work duties in accordance with the Eastern Michigan University Weather Policy and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Exemptions
The weather closure guidelines do not apply in the following circumstances:
Students who have off-campus placements in teaching, clinical, or similar settings should follow the instructions of their placement coordinator or onsite instructor.
When the University is closed for severe weather, students, faculty and staff should monitor their emich.edu email and the main University website for condition updates. Campus closure guidelines can be found on the University closure website.
