YPSILANTI -- Eastern Michigan University is adding a new twist to Giving Tuesday with #GIVINGTRUEDAY – an opportunity for alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors, and friends to unite and make a powerful difference at Eastern.

“This #GIVINGTRUEDAY, we will have many opportunities for our alumni and donors to support the programs, scholarships, and areas across our campus that matter most to them,” said Bill Shepard, vice president of EMU Advancement and executive director of the EMU Foundation.

“As part of our $100 million Give Rise campaign, we hope to build upon the generosity we’ve seen from our donors in past years and have the most successful ‘#GIVINGTRUEDAY ever. We call on our EMU family and friends to support students, faculty, and community to help us surpass last year’s record-breaking day of giving.”

The EMU Give Rise crowdfunding page hosts more than 20 projects championed by the EMU community that impact areas across campus such as immediate student needs, specific programs, and colleges, among others. Many projects also offer gift-matching opportunities, which can double a donor’s impact.

“#GIVINGTRUEDAY allows us to come together and make a difference as one community,” said Shepard. “Every gift, large or small, has a direct impact.”

The community can watch for updates on the University’s progress and how to give on its social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
