YPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents today (Oct. 19, 2023) approved a $53,605,000 financial aid/scholarship budget for the 2024-25 academic year. Next year’s budget represents an 8.9% increase in the University’s financial aid support for students over the levels of this year, and a 22% increase from the level a decade ago.

Under the University’s supportive financial aid funding model, the majority of EMU students receive financial aid. This includes approximately 90% of first-year students.

“Eastern Michigan University’s core values reflect that we are a university of opportunity, opening doors to a college degree and rewarding careers for students from all backgrounds and financial standing,” said Eastern Michigan University President James Smith. “We are determined to remove barriers that stand in the way of students achieving their goals – and a critical element of that is providing financial assistance.”

Eastern Michigan University offers a variety of scholarship programs for students at all levels, whether first-year, transfer, graduate or international. Scholarships available for first-year students include:

  • Eastern Tuition Advantage (ETA): Covers full tuition minus federal aid.
  • Presidential Scholarship: Provides full tuition and room and board.
  • Emerald Scholarship: Up to $8,000 per year based on grade point average.
  • 4WARD Graduation Scholarship: Full tuition for years three and four, with a locked-in tuition rate for years one and two when living in a campus community for all four years.
