Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approves agreement with full- and part-time lecturers

YPSILANTI – The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved a new collective bargaining agreement between the University and the EMU Federation of Teachers full-time and part-time lecturers (EMUFT) during today's regular meeting (Oct 19, 2023).

The agreement covers approximately 550 full-time and part-time lecturers and was ratified by the bargaining unit earlier this month. Significant provisions to the proposed agreement include:

Duration: Five-year contract ending August 31, 2028

Wages: Salary increase as follows: 

2023/24 – full-time lecturers, 3 percent and an additional $500; part-time lectures, 4 percent 

2024/25 –full-time lecturers, 2 percent and an additional $500; part-time lecturers, 3 percent 

2025/26 – full-time lecturers, 2.25 percent and an additional $500; part-time lecturers, 3.2 percent

2026/27 – full-time lecturers, 2.25 percent and an additional $500; part-time lectures, 3.2 percent

2027/28 – full-time lecturers, 3 percent; part-time lecturers, 3 percent 

In addition to the salary adjustments, changes were made to health plans and other benefits. Complete details can be found here
