What: Eastern Michigan University Spring Commencement.
Where: The EMU Convocation Center, on Hewitt Road between Washtenaw Avenue and Huron River Drive.
When: Sunday, April 28. The 9:30 a.m. commencement ceremony will involve the College of Arts and Science and the College of Education, and the 1:30 p.m. ceremony will include the College of Health and Human Services, the College of Business and the College of Technology.
Who: More than 2,700 students are eligible to walk in the two ceremonies.
Commencement speaker: Dave Zilko, a creative and energetic entrepreneur who is CEO of FUEL Leadership, will speak at both ceremonies and will receive an honorary Doctor of Commerce degree. His inspirational message will touch on his varied professional path, which includes his time with Garden Fresh Gourmet, and the many opportunities that can arise along the way.
Coverage details: Eastern’s commencement ceremonies offer a variety of compelling visual and emotional moments. The Convocation Center is ideal for graduation, offering excellent views of the students, speakers and spectacle. After the ceremony, families gather directly outside of the Convocation Center to reunite and celebrate the moment with their graduates. It’s an excellent snapshot of the excitement and shared achievement such a change of life involves.
Parking: Arrive early, to park in the adjacent Rynearson Stadium lot.
